Research shows that Pet Therapy is used to help build rapport, decrease anxiety and encourages empathy, sharing and caring.  Pet Therapy also improves cooperation and problem solving, nurturance and acceptance and increases openness.  

Studies have shown ATT (Pet Therapy) to be valuable for a variety of problem areas, such as children with autism (Sams, Fortney, & Willenbring, 2006).  Youth maladjustment and conflict with parents (Strand, 2004)  Adolescent anger management (Hanselman, 2001. ATT) also proven to help in anxiety, depression and self esteem.
